Provincials 2
The second Alberta Provincial competition was held at Canada Olympic Park the weekend of February 12-13. Saturday saw some of our Calgary Freeriderz athletes compete in the Slopstyle event with excellent results. The weather in the morning was warm and sunny but by afternoon the wind picked up to the point that COP was forced to shut down the lifts. With some help from shuttle vans made available all the athletes were able to finish the event. 80 athletes from around the province competed in the event and each athlete had 2 runs down the coarse.
Mark Hendrickson won gold in the M4 category and finished 1st overall followed closely by Cameron Duncan achieving gold in his M3 category and 2 over all. Colin Hendrickson, M3, was not far behind with 5th over all while Liam Mckenzie scored and 11th place finish. Kyler Tritter brought home a bronze metal in the M2 age group and Mike Rogne achieved 5th place. Brayden Tritter scored an 11th place finish in the M4 age group. Take a look at the results page attached. These scores will go along way towards the overall RPA rating for each of these athletes and hopefully get some of them into the Jr. Nationals held in Jasper in March.
Thanks to the families who came out to cheer on our boys as well as attend the banquet hosted by Southern Alberta Freestyle.
Thank you also Philip Litke who braved the cold winds and slippery conditions to perch himself on the side of the half pipe photographing the boys then putting together a video from the day.
