This was a Provincial competition that 6 of our Calgary Freeriderz athletes qualified for. Austin, Brayden, Colin B., Ben, Cam and Mark all competed in the event. (Matt qualified but was unable to attend)</p>
<p><span>All of our athletes did very well. Mark Hendrickson won Gold in M4 as well as 1st overall, Cam Duncan won Silver in M3 and placed 7th overall and Ben Pollock won a Bronze medal in M2 and 10th place overall.</span></p>
<p><span>Well done boys, competitions are all done for this year. It was a very successful season you should be very proud of yourselves!</span></p>

This competition is a part of the Canadian Series presented by Canada Post. Six of our Calgary Freeriderz athletes and families as well as coach Mike headed out to Vernon to take part in this event.</p>
<p><span>The slopestyle course consisted of several rails, boxes and 3 massive jumps. All of our athletes did extremely well on day one qualifying rounds and most advanced to finals on Sunday. The parents watched from a central area and enjoyed BBQ burgers and the beer gardens.</span></p>
<p><span>Results from the Amateur Finals are Ben Pollock 9th, Matt Couillard 13th and Austin Coll 19th. The weather was less than perfect on the training days but on the competition days the sun came out and the conditions were near perfect.&nbsp;</span></p>
<p>In Slopestyle M2 Ben placed 21, M3 saw Matt place 6th and Cameron 8th and in M4 Mark took 1st place. The Big Air comp saw Ben place 4th in M2, Matt was 7th and Cam 17th in M3 while Mark placed 3rd in M4.</p>
<p>Our athletes, parents and coach Mike were treated to the sights of old Quebec city and took in some of our Canadian history. The boys also managed to watch the Red Bull Crashed Ice event on the Saturday night before we all headed home.</p>

<p>Reid Danyluk, Colin Bridger and Brayden Tritter.&nbsp; Coach Mike accompanied the athletes.</p>
<p>The weather was chilly, with temperatures dipping down to -25C overnight and warming up only slightly during the day.&nbsp; Colin competed with the M4 group, with Reid and Brayden in the M3 category.&nbsp; Friday was slopestyle and the three athletes performed very well.&nbsp; At the end of the day, Freeriderz brought home two medals, a second place Silver for Brayden and a first place Gold for Colin.&nbsp; Reid finished just .4 points out of third with a come- from-behind surge after falling on his first run...from 25th to 4th.</p>
<p>Next day was moguls.&nbsp; Tough day for Colin, who fell on both runs, the second just a couple of meters from the finish.&nbsp; Brayden with a 13th place finish and Reid with a 15th place finish. &nbsp;</p>
<p>Zone 3 - Calgary also won the trophy for most medals overall.&nbsp; Congrats!</p>
<p>It was an incredible experience for these athletes to be part of the AWG 2012!&nbsp; They represented Zone 3 and the Freeriderz with good competitive spirit and sportsmanship. This year the event was staged over 3 days with the younger age group qualifying on Friday and the older athletes on the Saturday.</p>
<p><span>Fridays weather was extremely cold making it difficult for athletes and coaches at the top of the course. The visibility was a factor all 3 days but the fresh snowfall was welcomed on the final day of the event.</span></p>
<p><span>Qualifiers we held on ER7 with finals on ER3. Most of our Freeriderz athletes attended the competition and they all did extremely well showing off their big mountain skills. &nbsp;</span>Final results were:</p>

The Training took place on the</span>Friday and the slopestyle competition was held on the Sunday. It was great to see 11 of our club athletes attend.&nbsp;</p>
<p><span>The competition was stiff and at the end of the day our athletes did extremely well. Matt Couillard &nbsp;finished in Bronze medal position in the K2 Amateur Mens event followed by Brayden Tritter in 6th and Ben Polloch in 10th place.
